Today was a fairytale

I'm back after Chinese New Year break.

Come on, let my blog to have a break okay? Plus, i bet you guys are pretty sick and tired with my rantings in my blog.

Chinese New Year is over. So how was your celebration?

For me, Chinese New Year is not the same that we used to have.

I think I'm not the only one who have this sentiment.

Even for this year, there wasn't any hype and anticipation. I still can remember that the celebrations few years back were more exciting. Maybe my circle of friends are shrinking since they have established their respective families - I guess it's not right to bother them.

Alright, what's next?

Valentine's Day.

<Please hold you breath>

For once, after many years, I will have my Valentine this year.

Yes, I'm seeing someone. Nothing is official yet but that person has so much potentials. I have missed so many great things in my life and I will not miss it again.

Anyway, the Feng Shui masters that I have the luck for love this year and I never it could be so fast!

And this guy is taller than me, a head taller - it's like a dream came true!

Never in my life, I could feel so much sincerity from a guy. His sincerity is just so pure that gives me confidence that he is the right one for me to initiate a relationship.

Our first date was plain casual. But it was quite strange cause I started to miss him after we bid our farewell. And I wasn't alone. He confessed that he missed me too.

Second date was like Taylor Swift's "Today was a fairytale". Time slowed down when he was next to me. Then he said, "Do you know I love you? I really do".

Let's not jinx it okay. I hope things will work out. One thing for sure, he stands out so perfectly. He is not the common template in the gay community which physically and material driven.

Though I don't know much about him since we are still in the process to know each other but I strongly believe that if we get together as in officially, he will love me to pieces. And I strongly believe that he will be the man with shining amour who will walk with me for every storm, keeping me safe and warm.

But oh well, it's still tip of an iceberg for now but slowly and surely, we will be as one.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Never Chicken Out

I could not believe it's already Chinese New Year.

I only bought one shirt, the weather is cold and there's no Chinese New Year movie - I guess all these factors have dampen the spirit of the celebration.

It's nice to be Chinese, aren't we? We can make New Year's resolution twice in a year. Yes, you have the chance to revise your resolution on Jan 1 and make it right.

So what's for me in the year of Rooster?

The Feng Shui folks said that my zodiac animal will be having a great year. Well, they have been saying all good for like every years but I never see the good. Maybe I have negligence eyes so I couldn't see the positive in every aspect of my life.

Nevertheless, this year will be a hopefully good year since all the Feng Shui masters that I'll be having a good year. For me, I can see the wind of change is ahead of me. This wind of change will draw out the rebel side that buried deep down inside of me. This rebellion will justify the injustice for recent years. This justification will bring good and hopefully an extreme change. Of course, change comes with courage - courage to take risk. And I'm always a believer fortune favours the bold.

Like the chickens always do - chickens can cross the road without having their motives questions, so can we!

Happy Chinese New Year, I wish all your wishes can come true eventually. Gong Xi Gong Xi.

Happy Birthday

It's good to be 28 years old again.

Though it was simple but my birthday celebrations were simply memorable for me. I never wanted a pompous nor lavish birthday celebration, just a simple birthday dinner with my friends is more than happy for me.

You must be dying to know what my birthday was right?

I wished for a handsome boyfriend. We will meet by serendipity.  Nah, this year is not the year for relationship (unless someone makes me to change my mind).

So I caught up with my old pal of mine and I never knew that we have been friends for eight years now. He must know me well since he asked me whether I still couldn't let go a person we were so familiar with.

I didn't answer actually because I miss him sometimes. Maybe he has a place in my heart that no one could replace. I guess I shouldn't think too much. People are leading a happy life now. But deep down in my heart, I treasure every moment I spent with him and it was happiest moment in my life. Well, I did wish I could celebrate my birthday with him but oh well, I've got my friends who are still care for me.

Okay back to my birthday!

Had a delightful pre-birthday dinner at Botanica + Co @ The Vertical in Bangsar South. I would say not bad. And there was a tall waiter who was not bad either. BTW, you see the missing part of the chicken? Someone stole it.

Of all tables at the restaurant, this cat had to come to my table. How did it know I love cats? Maybe it was the unspoken cat language and purring.....

Bear bear cake from Chateraise Isetan @ 1Utama. Cute right?

And of course the full size birthday cake on my birthday

Followed by Yee Sang. "qgegiebijasbvsa qwfbqi vidmbsldjisehg" - chanted the Bangla waiter. Really, I'm not joking. Seriously, we had no idea what he was saying when he was preparing the Yee Sang. He must be worshipping Papa Smurf I guess.

Last but not least, the birthday dinner on my actual birthday at Greyhound Cafe Kuala Lumpur. It was nice and I didn't expect it was so value for money.

That's all folks for my birthday celebrations this year. Chinese New Year is next. Before I end my birthday entry, I want to conclude it with a song. The title of this song is 'The Past Only Can Be Memorable'. And yes, it is a very old song and you know I love oldies because those songs are so simple but yet meaningful.

I don't know much about Mandarin but I believe this song is very meaningful since it was played during my grandfather funeral. I believe it means;

Time has passed and can never return. Past relationships can only be retrieved from memory. Remember when we were child and were like couples; being innocent together through day and night. Spring breeze has blown the flower filament to red. You have been one year older. If you would break my heart and I won't come back like last time. I only can lean on you in my dream.

Bring Out The Big Balloons

Only two weeks to go.

Not again, Alvin is doing cheap publicity on his birthday yet again. Yes, I am because it is only once a year, so make it a memorable one.

I remember when back in younger days, birthday was like the world to me. But as I grow more mature, birthday is like a reminder that I should take my life seriously.

Like every year, I don't wish for lavish birthday party. I just wish that I could celebrate with my close friends and that matters the most. Though I'm being a meanie to them but deep down in my heart, I appreciate all of them and they have been there for me. I want to dedicate the most important day in my life for them.

I never ask any gift from them. They will never know what I really want, so to avoid disappointment or bitch fight, it's better for them to save it. Treat me for a meal; I would be more than happy.

So how old am I?

I'm 28. Don't believe me?

Let my age to be a secret. The hint is that I'm not young anymore.

You see, I don't really like to reveal my age. Maybe I'm just being insecure, I just don't want people to judge me according to my age.

I think most of us will categorize and judge people according to their age. Like in our early 20s, we would categorize our peers like what they studied or where they studied. I guess you and I were tinge of envy when our friends studied abroad.  As approaching early 30s, we will guess how much our friends earn, have they purchase a house or have they got married? The peer pressure is real. So why reveal your age to fall into these trap?

Alas, I believe we are not confined to our age nor to other people's judgement. Yes, there are times people are ahead of us but we are running in the same race that is called 'life' - eventually we will reach the finish line.

I know it's rather discouraging when you realise that you are way back in the race. There are so many people ahead of you and that is when you lose your sight. Always remember that you were not born to compete, the race track is yours and only you can dictate how the journey will go. Take the journey which will make you happy.

Yes, we may have limitations. And I do have a lot. But it doesn't mean you are worthless in the race or journey or life or whatever you want to call it. Your existence has its meaning and you are the only one can define this meaning. Limitations are inevitable but through limitations you will take opportunities to learn, to turn your limitations to your advantages.

It's late now. So, before I end my note, if you insist, I really really want The Simpsons Lego house set for my birthday:P

2017 : Move

If you don't like where you are, move. You're not a tree.

What if you're a tree and you can't move? You can blossom with flowers or even with fruits.

This is my first entry in 2017 and yet until today I don't have any resolution for this year. I see a resolution is a commitment, either you don't make it or be determined to make it happens within a year. Which I did in 2016, I started my gym and I did it religiously throughout the year and I'm very proud of it.

So what can you expect of me in 2017?

As it stated in the title of this entry, 2017 will be themed "Move".

You see, my life has been stagnant. This situation as led me into boredom and sometimes envious as my peers are ahead of me. When I reflect myself for these past years, nothing has changed. I'm still the same old me, it's like no advancement of myself.

So in 2017, the old Alvin will move into new Alvin. This moving process will encompass many aspects of my life that eventually will lead to a better me. I refuse to use the word "Change" since it is a very powerful word and change means revolutionary for me.

What about getting a partner this year?

Nah, it's not in my list this year. But well, if the fate falls on the right time at the right place, I wouldn't mind. I hope my future partner is not those typical gay folks. I hope he is intelligent, humble and well-spoken. No, no, no I don't want those fags who have nothing but their body.

Come to think of it, there were so many the ones that got away all my life. Well, in 2017, let me tell myself this, don't waste your life trying to get back what was taken away.

I have a feeling that 2017 will be a great year for me. After all, number 7 is my lucky number :)

2016 : What?!

Donald Trump is the next President of The United States.

Say what?!

Now you know why 2016 can be summarized into one word; "What?!".

It was such a bizarre year that the least expected incidents  happened which either left us pretty dumbfounded or left us in joy. Let's recall some of the defining moments in 2016  in just one short paragraph:

Dr. M = opposition - Zika - Olympics - Hillary - Allepo - David Bowie - Jamal - Merah - Badminton - Paralympic - Belgium - George Michael - Leonardo Dicaprio - Brexit - Belgium - Prince - Princess Leia - Muhammad Ali - Nice - Pulse - Chewbacca Mom - 1MDB - Pokemon Go - PPAP - Brangelina.

For me, it was just a mundane year. Now I only realize that I did not travel this year. Seriously, come to think of it, I only went to Sekinchan, Pulau Ketam and Penang and two of those were one-day trip somemore. No wonder every day in 2016 was a routine for me. I guess one of my resolution for 2017 will be travelling and travel far.

Talk about my resolution and thank god, in 2016, I was able to make my resolution happened. Yes, I told myself to hit the gym and try to lose some weight and I did! Though it wasn't like extreme change to a hunky guy but at least I did lose some weight and put on some muscle ( still in progress). Wasn't this an achievement?

Also, I'm also impressed that the past year, I did not fall ill except those food poisonings. Well, blame  my affection to eat with disregard to the food hygiene. But really, I did not have fever nor flu this year. Maybe it's true, when you keep your lifestyle as active as possible, you will keep the doctor away.

Relationship wise, I'm still single like duh. I don't feel lonely nor feel desperate in the state of my singlehood. Somehow, I take my singlehood as an opportunity to love myself more and to fortify myself to be tough, solid tough. Really, I really feel so comfortable of being single compared to the desperate me few years back. Now I have this thinking that I don't find relationship; relationship finds me :)

As old saying goes; life is a rollercoaster - that we just have to ride it. We all did in 2016. I hit rockbottom several times throughout 2016. It was like falling from cloud nine at hit on the concrete. But let me tell you this, life sucks and deal with it. While you're dealing shits in your life, always remember it's not the end and they are people around you that you can reach to and you can put your shoulder on. There are many ways to overcome the predicament. Like what Moon from Sing says; "When you are the lowest point in your life, there's only way to go, which it's go up".

That's for my entry in 2016. If 2016 was tough year for you, worry not because 2016 is gone now, let's hope 2017 will be a good one alright.

2016 - we're done.

As usual, before I'm signing off for my NYE entry, here's my favourite song in 2016. In fact, there are two. Let's sing out loud; "I know it breaks your heart, moved into city in a broke down car"..."Got this feeling in my body"

Someday At Christmas

I thought I could have a very merry Christmas with special someone this year.

It was so close but it didn't happen. I can't blame since he wanted to be a dickhead and gone MIA.

Moving along - you wouldn't believe me that I don't have any plan for this Christmas right? Well, it's true and I don't even have a plan for the eve.

And for once, I'm not emo over it. Surprise right?

Even myself is also surpised that I'm not sad, I'm not emo nor I'm desperate to have someone special for this Christmas. I could foresee that it will be a lonely Christmas but I will be doing just fine for sure. I won't die just because I'm celebrating Christmas alone.

If you know me well, you know that Christmas is like a huge celebration for me since I hold it so dear to my heart. Since it was (and still is) so meaningful to me, so I always want to celebrate the Christmas Eve with someone special as that very someone special will be equally important to me as well.

But then again, as I acknowledge that love will always be hard to come to me, so I have to deal with you. My anticipation for Christmas Eve dies off as my faith to find a lover dies off. The romance and the sentimental values of Christmas seem like very hard for me to grasp. It's okay, I guess, as long my close friends have a meaningful Christmas, I would be happy for them too.

Nah, don't pity me coz I'm not doing self-pity here. Come on, at least I had romantic Christmas Eve dinners with my exes.

Until today, I still cannot forget one particular person who celebrated Christmas Eve with me without any planing many years back. I still could recall the feeling of anticipation waiting for him at the gate. I never thought I could have that privilege to celebrate Christmas Eve with him. I was the happiest person walking on the Earth on that fateful Christmas Eve. We took so many pictures over the dinner.

Sigh, if I could only turn back time. Come to think of it, I miss him the most at Christmas time. You know last week, I walked pass the restaurant we spent our Christmas Eve together. I guess after all these years, there are no one can compare with you for whom could bring me so much happiness in my life. The memories  I had with you are vividly emblazoning in my mind as Christmas comes ever year.

Okay don't talk about the past - move forward.

I'm not sure there's such thing called Christmas Miracle. If it does exists, please happen quick, like make it happens tomorrow!

Before I end my note, have yourself a very little Christmas and make this season bright.

Those Christmas Lights

I thought I could have someone special this coming Christmas.

It didn't happen.

Christmas used to be my favourite celebration with so much anticipation.

It's already December and sadly, it doesn't feel Christmas at all for me though everyone has started to sing Deck The Halls.

Maybe I've given up on Christmas. I feel like it doesn't belong to me. They say Christmas is meant to be jolly but for me, it's a plain disappointment, again and again.

There's no one to be blamed as biggest culprit for my disappointment is myself. I know it sounds desperate but I always have this wish every year that my Christmas Eve I could have someone special next to me.

Maybe I watched too much romantic movies - you know those movies in which the guy will finally appear in front of the girl on Christmas Eve and they lead a happily ever after. I guess I won't have that luck to have that kind of spectacular happy ending.

It's okay, I'm not self-pity here. I have disowned Christmas so it seems. On the brighter side, I won't be having that stress on how to celebrate my Christmas. I don't even have to fight for a table at a fancy restaurant with its remarkably marked-up price. Yay!

For time being, I'm that strong to say that I'm okay to celebrate Christmas alone or forgo this celebration but when Christmas comes, I know I would be deadly emo scrolling those Facebook updates.

It's good to feel that you're special for special someone on a very special. I don't have that luck this year. For those who have that luck, please cherish it. I had that very special someone before but he got someone else that who is more special than me.

My chandelier of hope have long gone diminished. I've stopped waiting long time ago. But if I have any luck or any fate, I hope those Christmas lights could light up the street and lead you back to me.  I miss you the most at Christmas time. And I miss that very Christmas Eve night in which you were mine...

<3 Mom

We always lament that time flies and we are getting older. I'm guilty of that too. Nevertheless, we still have the youth and the stamina to walk down the path which is named 'future'.

As we are walking down this path, there are people around us that should not be neglected - our parents. They are not young anymore. The youth and stamina seems to be a thing of yesteryears for them.

Even I also feel that my parents are getting older. Apart from physical features, they walk a bit slower. It's rather mixed feeling between heartwarming and heartache - when you were little, you parents will hold your hand to walk as they afraid that you would wander off somewhere. It was their assurance to you that they would never let you go and they would keep you safe.

But now, you have to hold your parents' hand and walk as you afraid that they would fall down. It is your assurance to them that it is your turn to keep them safe.

Since today is Mother's Day and soon to be Father's Day, here's my personal view on these two occasions. Materials and luxury are not the perfect give for both occasions. What they really want from you is spending quality time with them. Quality time is more than luxury.

It's really bizarre for me to learn that Anna Jarvis, the person who founded Mother's Day 1912 but she was the one who boycott the celebration in later years. Why?

Because she despised the excessive amount of consumerism associated with Mother's Day today. The real meaning of the day is lost.

Before I end my note, there's a reason some people think they can do anything...they listened to their mothers. Happy Mother's Day.

You Gotta Have A Body

Water guns here, water guns there, water guns everywhere.

If you happen to be gay, it is most likely that your Facebook is flooded with some guys holding water guns somewhere in Thailand. Yes, it is the annual gay pilgrimage again, Songkran festival.

If you ask our Malaysian gay folks, who are in Thailand now, about what the festival is all about, I'm pretty sure they will reply you that don't have any idea or these responses:

  • I just want to have fun with my friends
  • I just want to have fun with random strangers
  • I just want to have fun with random strangers in my hotel room
  • I just want to check out on hot guys
  • I just want the hot guys to check out on me
  • I just want to spray some water because the weather is too hot
  • I just want to spray some water on the hunks so they could take off their shirt
  • I just want the hot hunks to spray on me so I could take off my shirt
  • I just want to get laid tonight

But seriously, if you didn't know, Songkran is the traditional Thailand New Year marked by throwing water. However, this holy festival is marred by many gays who seize the opportunity to be promiscuous ( I will be stoned by saying this lol). It's true, if not, why gay people especially from Malaysia like to go there like annually. There are three places that gays will flock together - gym, a place to have romance and a place to be promiscuous.

Nevertheless, thank you guys in Thailand right now for giving my eyes some pleasure. I believe you guys had a very painful control diet and workout for Songkran.

Looking at the hot bodies in my Facebook, I always wonder what if I have a nice body too, say, something like Zac Efron?

So my bud teases me that if one day I have a nice body, I should not post my body picture since I have been labelling all the gays who like to post shirtless pictures as fag. Okay, i won't then.

Anyway, If I ever had a sizzling body, my body will be an asset like shining armour. Definitely, I will gain a lot of attention since the superfical gay folks out there are captivated by one's body and not the nature and the intangible values within that one's body.

Come to think of it, I guess I will be one of the loneliest person in the world if I have a firm and built body. I can't deny that people will pay attention to me and even to be friends with me but they are fake. They just want to be closer to you so they could be proud that they have a 'friend' who is hot and his circle of friends could pay attention to him also.

When you a hot body, inevitably, a lot of people will chase after you. Yes, they chase after your body and not what constitute you. In the end, when the people are tired with your body, they just dump you and move on with another new body. So in the end, you are left in despair.

Having an ugly body is not bad after all. You're safe. Friends and lovers are at least truthful enough to accept your flaw of your ugly body.

It's late everyone. Good night. For those who are having fun at Songkran, please be safe. You know what I mean.

Something I Like About CNY

It's scary to know that tomorrow will be the last day of Chinese New Year celebration, right?

15 days of celebration comes to an end tomorrow. So how was your celebration this year?

Maybe I'm ageing that's why the celebration has become mundane, more like lack of fun. But at least, I really enjoyed my very long break and I did spend some quality time with my family.

Though it was mundane but there were few things that I really about this festive season this year:

Chinese New Year Movies Marathon:

Without fail, I'll watch almost every CNY movies in the cinema with my parent. It is really heartwarming sight to see when you see the younger generation brings their elders to watch a movie. It really signifies that we have grown up enough to pay for movie tickets and usher our parents to cinema hall. I still remember vividly that I was in my dad's mom to watch Stephen Chow's CNY movies but now I was the one who held her hand to cinema hall.

Talking about CNY movies, which one is your favourite this year?

For me, it's Mermaid. Not because it is Stephen Chow's movie but at least this comedy movie has its storyline and further brings awareness to our environment. Compared to From Vegas To Macau III, my gosh, I didn't know what the heck was going on. No storyline and the jokes were very very lame. And I wasn't entertained by the robots at all.

Don't you think Hong Kong Chinese New Year movies are getting lamer? Even our local Ola Bola could beat them easily. What happen to those golden era of Hong Kong movies in the 90s?

Thank God, TV had made the rerun of the old Hong Kong comedy movies. Thought I watched like 20 times but I still found it very funny. If i watch another 20 times, I will still find it very funny. The jokes and the acting skills of the veteran actors/actresses are simply timeless. Who could ever forget movies below:

It's A Mad Mad World

All's Well, Ends Well Too

All's Well, Ends Well

Journey To The West

Food:

I don't know how many animals that I've killed for this festive season. I shouldn't complain much since it was a blessing there were food on the table during Chinese New Year. Let's see what I had for CNY:

Yee Sang! I had it twice this year
My reunion dinner. Kudos to my mom and aunties who worked very hard for this very special meal. My favourite dish on the dining table definantely gonna be Sambal Petai, it was the bomb! Anyhow, it is not how many dishes nor what dishes are served but the people who eat with you at dining table during reunion table that counts
Look at the Tiger Prawns~!

My family is rather unorthodox since most of the dinner during CNY were western food. So we went to my mom's favourite American Pizza place in Ipoh, MichaelangelO Pizzeria in Ipoh Garden East. It's still the best pizza place I ever been.

Not forgetting CNY tidbits especially nga ku!
Check out the price of Empurau fish! Named as 'Unforgettable' in Chinese, apparently it's the most expensive edible fish in Malaysia
Caramelised Roasted Pork at Vimtry, Damansara. I know it sounds deathly but it is really nice!
Lychee Cheese Cake - the amount of cheese and lychee are just perfect for taste buds

Since I was in Ipoh, it would be a great waste if I didn't have my hometown local food right like Mixed Fruits Ice in Tong Sui Kai near Sam Tet

And Wern Tou Long - only in Ipoh. It's a shaved ice with lemon with jelly at the bottom. Great way to relinquish your thirst

Friend Yeung Lui - succulent fried fish paste stuffed in varied manner at Big Tree Root, Pasir Pinji. It's a must have everytime I'm back in Ipoh
Of course, the cafes in Ipoh. I know Ipoh is very famous for its cafes (i think 30 over cafes to try out) but I only been to 10 or so. And the latest one was Petit Mary Patisserie. If you like a princessesy and homey ambience, this is the place for you!

Great ambience at the grea hotel of M Boutique, Station 18. Myth Esspresso Bar is the place to be if you want to have long evening chat with your friends. I think i spent two hours gossiping and bitching there :)

The good old Ipoh, never loses its charm

Mundane right? Well, the quality time spent with family and friends matter. Furthermore, the celebration for my family this year had been toned down since my grandparents passed away last year.

This pretty sums up my Chinese New Year celebration. See you again in January 28, 2017! Once again, have a blessed Year of Monkey!

Somebody To Love

Oh hi. Hi there.

Undated tonight?

Me too actually. I hope you're not sad over it. It's okay to be single today and every other day throughout the year.

There are many valid reasons that we don't have anyone to celebrate with.

I believe most of us chose to be single as the hearts of ours have wounded before this. Broken hearts can't be healed, it only moves along with time. These broken hearts had made us to be vulnerable and made us to lose all confidence in love.

While others, they may wait for someone. It's good to wait for someone that you really love but we should set an expiry date of this waiting game. Once you know that the waiting is unfruitful or even the person doesn't show any slight of interest on you, you should really let go. Otherwise, this waiting game will drown you. It even shuns away people who may have interest on you. Like the old saying, don't give up the whole forest just because of a single tree.

For some, they may be too shy to confess to someone. They just remain silent. As once they have confessed, it will scare off that very person. Awkwardness ensues that may lead to the end of friendship. You rather to remain silence to keep the friendship. Well, I guess you should tell him. Tell him how much he meant for you. Who knows he has interest on you also. I know it is risky but life is all about betting right? You could lose everything but once he said yes, you could win him over.

I'm sorry if I'm acting like a love guru here which I'm not. I'm just a loser in love. I wish to have somebody to love, I really do but a choosy guy like me, I think will stay single for quite sometimes. I don't need all the riches or the smoking hot body, I just want someone who could be compatible with me, who could take the lead when I'm tired and aimless to do so.

But on the brighter side, the Feng Shui master forecasted that I'll be having cherry blossom luck this year. And I guess it blossoms a bit early.

Before I end my note, Happy Valentine's Day for those who are attached. Please treat your partner well and of course, wear condom. For singles, it's not so bad right? Just go out and be a whore tonight.

For me, I just sit at home and start to pray until the tears run down from my eyes. And I will sing...can anyone find me somebody to...love?

Something I Dislike About CNY

It's the most prosperous time of the year.

I know right, it's pretty scary to know how time flies. I still remember vividly that I had the last reunion dinner with my grandparents last year around this time.

In the blink of an eye, they are gone and today we are celebrating a brand lunar New Year.

I like Chinese New Year ever since I was a little kid. When I was a kid, it was the only time of the year that I could play with firecrackers (back then it was still legal) and brand new clothes. Since I was among the youngest in my family, so I got a lot of pampering and of course, the ang pow. Back then, RM 10 was already a huge amount for me.

But now I'm all grown up now. I still like Chinese New Year since I could spend quality time with my family and the long long break that I have.

However, there are several things which are unwelcoming during Chinese New Year.

I'm not referring to the annual question of "When You Gonna Get Married?". I always have the legit answer for that. My brother will always be the scapegoat since he is still a bachelor.

Alternatively, I could go bitchy and answer "you're just dying to attend the first gay wedding in your life right and guess what? You're not invited."

Anyhoo, let's see if you share any similarities of our dislikes for Chinese New Year:

The Boiling Weather

This year, we are promised that we will have a cold CNY since the cold wind will be blown from mainland of China. Northern Peninsular is said to have temperature around 16 degrees. This seems somewhat legit since Hong Kong and Taiwan were experiencing cold weather before this; HK was at four degrees and snow in Taiwan.

But as time passes, the cold wind has yet to arrive. It is still pretty hot out there. Compared to previous years, it is not so bad this year since it has been raining recently. Previous years, it was rather sticky experience to make visits. Imagining you are wearing brand new clothes which absorbency is still low and you sweat profusely under the hot sun.

Your relative will like "lei hui bin dou lei?! Sap tat tat kam meong"

The Long & Winding Road

It's not really winding actually, it's long, very very long straight road. It is reported that over one million vehicles will leave Klang Valley during Chinese New Year. Inevitably, the highways that lead to our respective hometowns will be congested.

I had to spend like three to five hours just to reach Ipoh in which the normal travelling time is just two hours. PLUS highway has extended one more lane in most of the stretches heading North but it didn't make any difference. I guess the best solution is to have contra flow. Seriously, the opposite side is like a ghost road, barely can see any cars passing by. Why not open a lane in the opposite direction to reduce the traffic volume?

Aside from the highway, this slow pace Ipoh city is also experiencing high volume of vehicle during festive season. That's why I reluctant to drive out. You see, Ipoh is infested with many many traffic lights. You have to wait like two or three rounds until you could pass the green light. To make situation worse, Ipoh drivers are relatively slow. Can imagine the frustration?

The Big Green Bug

It's like those horror movie where the home is attacked by flying insects. Yes, you can have this horror movie experience during Chinese New Year with the big green cicada- scary features with its loud noise.

Few days ago, when I was walking glamorously to a restaurant to have my dinner. Suddenly, this big green cicada fell on my shirt. Aside from frightening, it was an embarrassing moment since I shouted "WTF, get it off!".  I hate this bug so much.

Though it looks frightening, but in Feng Shui, cicada is regarded as a good symbol of immortality and protection against backstabbers. Of course it will ward off the backstabbers. Just throw a cicada at them. Definitely, they will run away. Or when you are suspecting that they are backstabbing you, just pinch the cicada body to make the loud hissing sound - "Shut up you bitches!"

Since you have many cicadas left, throw some at those gay folks who are trying hard to act straight.

"Sei gay lou, sei hoi dit!"  I bet those gay men will freak out with their highest pitch "OHMYGAWD, get it off get it off!" lol.

Unorthodox Not-Visiting

You must be surprised that my family doesn't do bai nian or visiting. We are one helluva unique family. You see, my mom side is still within Ipoh and we meet them almost every month. Meanwhile for my dad side, they are based in Penang. We are just pure lazy to drive to Penang. Furthermore, my grand parents just passed away recently. So yeah, there is no bai nian for me.

It's rather boring you know. Want to go out and hang out but all my friends are busy with bai nian. And most of the shops are close on the first and second day of CNY. Most of the people are having their joyous time during  the first and second day of CNY. But for me, trapped at home and writing this lonely blog.

No matter how much I'm ranting about CNY but I know the meaning of this celebration. It's more than food and new clothes. It's all about the count of chopsticks at the dining table for reunion dinner. We always hope the count will always be the same every year or additional number in near future.

Happy Chinese New Year. May the Fire Monkey Year bring you health and abundance of wealth.

It's My Birthday

Clear blue sky on my birthday-a great omen
Words seem to be futile to express my gratitude for my close friends who made a series of birthday celebrations to be so memorable.

As expected, most of the people dropped me this question; how do you feel right now as you have hit the significant age?

To be honest, I feel nothing. I didn't grow an inch taller nor I had third nipple on my body. I'm still me. But I can't deny that when hit adulthood or commonly known as golden age, you feel tired easily. Not only physically tired but you look tired as well. You feel the radiant youth just vanished from your face.

Nevertheless, as you hit this significant age, you will realize that you are very mature in thinking. Your mind is open up to take concrete criticism. You will learn how to distinguish between good and bad. You will also learn who are the people that meant to be kept in your life.

Alright, done with my intro, let me walk you through of my birthday celebration.

The million dollar question here is who was the person that celebrate my actual birthday with me? Let the person shrouded in mystery alright. I really had wonderful night.

We went up to Marini's on 57. I have to admit that I'm a kampung boy, it was my first time. I always had this perception that the restaurant and lounge were meant for the upper class, not the low class boy like me. So it was nice experience to have someone to usher you to the lift. I felt like a living diva for that particular moment.

My breath was taken away by the awe-inspiring view of Petronas Twin Towers with Kuala Lumpur city in its background. I just literally sat there without a word for like half an hour just to enjoy magnificent view.

My birthday celebration continued at Troika Sky Dining. Set in Tower B of The Troika along PErsiaran KLCC, it comprises two dining venues and a bar: fusion-focused Cataloupe, Italian bistro Strato and Claret wine bar. And we chose Strato.

My birthday meal: Spaghetti, pesto, bottarga and mascarpone cheese!
And of course, my birthday cake. Obviously from Starbucks

The next day of my birthday, me and my bud went to Pulau Ketam in search of Mr Krab's Krabby Patties. Nah, since it was a long weekend, we had a short road trip over there. I'll write my Pulau Ketam escapade in the next entry alright.

The next next next day of my birthday, I had celebration with my ex colleagues and buds. We had dinner at Mario & Luigi, Bangsar. I never knew there was a row of shops in that secluded area. Located at unassuming enclave of Lorong Kurau, Bangsar, this Italian fine dining restaurant is inspired by simplicity and immaculate focus on high quality ingredients.

Verdict? The food was okay, nothing to shout about but what I enjoyed the most was the quality time with them. Though there was a celebrity next table but we couldn't bother much. She should approach me to take a picture with the diva.

The birthcake is brought to you by Elevete Pastisserie. It was superb! You can check its wide array of patries at its Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Elevete/

Last but not least, with my Diva Group. It was simple dinner at Japanese Casual Restaurant Watami. Though it was simple but at least we enjoyed our bitch feeding. I love my Diva Group coz they are bitchy enough but yet they look after each you. And what I like about them is that they never reveal their bodies coz they could afford to buy clothes to clad.

Before I end my note, for many times when I'm single, I would long for a boyfriend to celebrate my birthday with me. This year is a little bit different coz I don't need one. I have my lovely friends for this celebration and I could not ask for more.

I can't deny some people were missing in picture and not even a birthday wish from them. It's okay. Maybe people were busy or I was meant to be forgotten. It's okay.

To show my gratitude for those who made my birthday so memorable, this song is for all of you:
